Here at The House Clinics, our team of Podiatrists are foot care specialists who assess, diagnose, and treat painful conditions of the feet, ankles, and lower limbs. The treatment provided ranges from routine foot care such as nail trimming or the removal of rough skin and corns to biomechanical analysis and custom orthotics, as well as nail surgery for ingrowing toenails and verruca treatment.
Common conditions our Podiatrists treat
What to expect on your first visit
Our Bristol Podiatrists can treat a wide range of conditions and problems related to the feet. You may have an ingrowing toenail or stubborn verruca, but sometimes, foot pain seems to come on for no apparent reason. Podiatrists can treat problems affecting the exterior of the foot (skin and nails) but they are also trained to diagnose painful conditions related to the internal mechanics of your feet. They can analyse the way you walk, the shape of your feet, the shoes you may have worn, and determine the cause of your pain, which may be felt in the lower limbs and knees as well as the feet.
The following conditions are all treated by Podiatrists:
Plantar Fasciitis
Metatarsalgia
Achilles Tendonitis
Shin Splints
Flat Feet/collapsed arches (Pronation)
High Arches (Supination)
Sports Injuries
Severs Disease
Verrucas & Warts
Painful Bunions
Arthritic Pain
Diabetic Foot
If you have a suspected verruca, nail infection, or ingrowing toenail, one of our Podiatrists will assess it and advise the best treatment. Treatment is usually provided on your first visit but you may need to come back for follow-up treatments. You can see a full list of treatments we offer here.
If you are experiencing pain either in your feet, ankles, knees, or legs, you will need to have your feet assessed to find the cause.
In an initial consultation, your Podiatrist will make a diagnosis by reviewing your case history and examining your feet. In many cases, this assessment will include gait analysis (a biomechanical assessment) to identify the cause of your problem. The practitioner will then suggest a variety of tailored treatments. These may include:
Insoles or shoe inserts (Orthotics) may be prescribed to improve the alignment of the foot and how you walk or run.
Taping or strapping of the feet.
A bespoke exercise/strengthening programme
Advice on footwear
Here at the clinic, our highly qualified podiatrists work with young children and teenagers, from the ages of 2-18 and can treat the following:
Sometimes children find the treatments offered a little worrying, but our podiatrists are extremely reassuring and used to working with children of all ages.
Developmental concerns with children are best treated early to aid the correct growth of the feet and to prevent gait issues in the future.
