Our women's health physiotherapy service can help resolve many postnatal problems experienced by women during pregnancy and after childbirth.
The Mummy MOT assessment is a specialist postnatal checkup that addresses back pain, pelvic girdle pain (PGP), symphysis pubis dysfunction (SPD), sciatica, abdominal separation, and postpartum tears.
The Mummy Mot is designed to screen for and assess any issues related to pregnancy and childbirth, including pelvic floor health, posture, and trauma such as tearing or tummy muscle separation. This assessment will help ensure a full recovery. The Mummy MOT can also help you get back to exercising and safely.

The pelvic floor consists of a complex network of muscles that support the pelvic organs and form a uterine canal and a passage for urine and bowel movements. To remain continent, a woman's muscles need to be able to both contract and relax effectively. This is necessary for normal urine and bowel function, as well as for natural birth and sexual relations.
Pelvic floor problems can arise when the muscles are either very weak or very tense and overactive.
Having a weak pelvic floor is NOT only the result of having children or getting older - there are a variety of other reasons why this might happen.
Expert pelvic floor physiotherapy along with targeted exercises can help to reverse the symptoms.
There are several reasons why pelvic floor muscles might become tense, including trauma, childbirth, gynaecological procedures, or unresolved back or hip pain.
Effective physiotherapy treatment can help to reverse pelvic floor muscle tension.
Pelvic pain in pregnancy is common, but women can experience it for a number of other reasons too. It can be steady or intermittent and often feels like an uncomfortable pressure or heaviness in the pelvic region. It is commonly seen in women during menopause, as a side effect of endometriosis, and after pelvic surgery or a hip replacement surgery. Chronic pelvic pain can be very difficult to live with.
