Mike Mackay

Mike grew up in Somerset, where he attended The Robert Blake Science College. From school he embarked on pathway to become a professional footballer, moving to Bristol and signing for Bristol City FC. Following three years in the academy Mike suffered a very serious leg break in his first year as a professional which cut short his ambitions in the professional game. However, this set back proved a key part in Mikes passion for Physiotherapy and rehabilitation. He spent over 6 months at the English Institute of Sport and High Performance Centre at Lilleshaw, considered the best rehab centre for sporting injuries in the country.

Following his exit from full time football, Mike followed his passion and continued to play semi-professional football alongside gaining advanced qualifications in Exercise referral, Personal Training and post-operative Rehabilitation. This led to Mike work across several Health clubs and hospitals, providing one-to-one training and Rehabilitation from surgery, in both the UK and Australia.

Mike took his career to the next stage of development graduating from the country’s highest-ranking Physiotherapy school, Cardiff University, in 2016 with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy. He is now a member of the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a registered member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP).

After graduating Mike Spent over two years working in the NHS as a Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist accessing and treating a variety of spinal and peripheral conditions from sporting injuries to post-operative surgery.

Mike continued his professional skills during this time gaining qualifications in Sports massage adding a more diverse set of treatment skills to his physiotherapy practice.

Mike Joined the House Clinics in August 2018 and has become a valued member of the team. Mike enjoys assessing and treating a variety of pathologies that come to the clinic but has a keen interest sport and lower limb injuries.

To relax, Mike often travels around the country watching his beloved Leeds United, and enjoys nothing more than dining out with family and friends.
